Nixon Red Dot Award
The Nixon TPS wins the prestigious 2012 red dot award.
With its high quality design, compact styling and robust sound, Nixon’s “TPS” mobile speaker has inspired the experts. Recently recognized by an elite design jury, The TPS was awarded the globally sought-after “red dot design award” for its thoughtful design language in the entertainment technology category.
The TPS is a USB rechargeable compact travel speaker built to withstand the rigors of life on the road. Compact, modern, powerful and expandable The TPS packs a punch with maximum decibels in minimal space. Featuring a simple extruded aluminum body with sand resistant grill, 3.5mm audio input, and 6-hour playtime, The TPS works with all media players and notebook computers. An integrated daisy chain allows users to connect multiple speakers together to take the party to the next level.
Nixon, a long time Cinco client, commissioned us to design this compact travel speaker. The idea of what later came to be known as The TPS was first inspired by a roundtable meeting held in Tavarua, Fiji in 2009 with Nixon pro-athletes and team riders Bruce Irons, Tony Hawk and others. The TPS is the result of a collaborative working relationship with Cinco and Nixon’s team of world-class athletes and further illustrates Nixon’s approach to products that are “Team-Designed, Custom-Built”.
The TPS will be displayed along the more than 1,500 winning products featured at Germany’s red dot design museum. The red dot design museum accommodates the world’s largest permanent exhibition of contemporary design. Beginning this summer from July 3-29, 2012, the red dot design museum will hold its annual exhibition of the award-winning products. At “Design on stage - winners red dot award: product design 2012” design, enthusiasts can admire the latest winners at close range.
