While we’re passionate about politics around the Cinco office we’ll stop short of making an endorsement here. However over the past month we couldn’t help but notice the abundance of Barack Obama inspired art. Shepard Fairey of Obey weighed in prior to Super Tuesday with his offering, which sold out in 15 minutes. In the lead up to the Ohio and Texas primaries two other groups have released their prints aimed to support the Senator from Illinois’ bid to become president. The work of artist, The Mac, is a Henna-like styled poster. He’s offering limited edition silk screened/signed versions via Upper Playground.

Also available at Upper Playground are 300 limited edition campaign prints by Artist duo and creative agriculturists, the Date Farmers. The Date Farmers are using the proceeds to make and mass distribute more work throughout Texas. Regardless of who your favorite presidential candidate make sure to vote.

I have just completed my oil portrait of Barack Obama. You can see it on my website.
This new painting depicts Barack Obama in the foreground, standing in front of the Lincoln Memorial Statue, contemplating being President. Standing directly in front of the Lincoln Statue is the silhouette of a boy reminiscent of John Kennedy Junior, saluting the Statue of Lincoln. The painting is titled “Yesterday, Today & Tomorrow”.
It will be appearing soon on the Jay Leno Tonight show.

Yes, he does inspire one to create art for this new iconic figure.

I for one never did a political cartoon until he came along. Then I just had to do one.

Finally finished it and released it

In a way its a commentary on this mania that I have not seen since Soviet union, oddly enough. The Gorby mania.

It seems to be following the same themes. Loved by foreigners, while locals were wary of him.

  18. Sean Wholey Says:

As others have stated, this is also my first political portrait. Actually I don’t paint many portraits at all. It is also my first painting on black velvet. I felt that it was appropriate considering he is somewhat of a living messiah. Think about all the velvet Jesus paintings, not to mention Martin Luther King Jr. and Elvis to boot. He’s that huge and thus worthy of a velvet depiction. Let me know what you think!

  19. Greg D'Alessandro Says:

Could anyone please tell me what the name of the art technique is where it’s simply a white peice of paper and black highlighting the shadows?

  20. seth balliett Says:

Yes! Certainly inspired by this amazing campaign. Just finished my portrait of Obama using ONLY torn paper from TIME Magazine. All of the text is specific to the campaign. Check it out at: www.PAPERtoCANVAS.com

Thank you for your time and support and I hope you enjoy the art. And remember to VOTE!

Hand-Painted Obama “Hope” Portraits Available!!! Please Look!!!

This piece is a stencil-based creation from my “Red vs. Blue” collection. Each piece is drawn and hand painted individually with pencil and acrylic paint. Painted on sanded 1/2″ plywood. Dimensions are approximately 13×21.

This particular piece is based on the famous image created by Shepard Fairey and widely used by the Obama presidential campaign on stickers and t-shirts. It’s overall intention is to pay homage and respect to people like him who continue to inspire hope in times of darkness and despair.

For pictures or more information, please email wake_work_sleep@yahoo.com or visit the ebay auction for this painting by Clicking This Link HERE.

    Thank you.
